Lady X's Message of the Week

Dear Secret Library Agents,

Thank you for agreeing to take on my case. Over the past week, the noises in the library have become louder than ever. Even my Maid will not go near the library anymore. She was polishing the floors in the hallway late one afternoon when she heard the strange sounds coming from behind the library doors. It frightened her so much that she stumbled over her cleaning bucket as she turned to run away and broke her foot. She won't be back to work for quite awhile.

My Butler has also refused to go to the library and bring me books that I need throughout the busy day. On his last trip to bring me one of my favourite reads, he said he was suddenly attacked by an army of books from the shelves. He quickly ran from the aisle protecting his head with his hands as several books from the collection just seemed to fly off and fall to the floor by themselves. He ended up with quite a goose egg on his forehead and he is certain that the library is haunted.

With no one else to turn to, I decided to take matters into my own hands. Arming myself with a large candelabra from the hall table, I bravely approached the library doors once more, hoping that I would be able to solve this mystery once and for all.

I slowly opened the library door. The room was still and quiet. The books that had fallen to the floor still lay cluttered in the aisle on top of one another in a scattered mess.

As I carefully stepped over the pile, my eyes gazed towards the large glass window on the west wall of the room. The panes of glass were filled with a collection of codes made up from a combination of letters and numbers. They looked to have been scribbled on the panes of glass by hand. There were nine different codes all together.

Suddenly I realized that I had sent you a list of nine different sounds in my other note and it quickly came to me that perhaps the nine codes in the window might be connected in some way to the sounds. I carefully wrote down all of the codes that I saw and I have mailed them in a large manila envelope to Library Headquarters for your examination.

Then the strangest thing happened. After writing down the strange markings, I looked up and watched as the codes were mysteriously erased from the window one by one. They disappeared, right before my eyes. I backed away from the window, stepped back over the pile of books on the floor, ran out of the library and shut the door.

Please help me Secret Library Agents. My precious books! My treasured library!

My bazillionaire life is falling apart and this whole experience is really starting to creep me out!

X-tremely nervous,

Lady X
